The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which was once upon a time an 'odd' and 'lonely' party in the state is now planning to contest from all the 60 constituencies. Thanks to the aggressive campaigns led by national party leaders in the state during the last few months!

The party which is hopeful of opening an account this year is determined to rid the state off the Congress regime while placing its faith on the potential leaders with winability factor.

When asked about the list of candidates, party leader and chairman of the State Election. Campaign, AL Hek told media persons that the announcement of the candidates will be done only after the announcement of the poll dates.

"We will try to bring the PM campaign in all the three regions (Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills) of the State," Hek said.

When enquired about the Chief Minister candidate of the party, Hek said that the party central leadership will decide after elections.

On the propaganda that the BJP is a communal party, the party leader said this is a false propaganda against the party.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Sanbor Shullai urged upon the people of the State to give BJP an opportunity to lead the Government.

As its strength grows with the joining of potential candidates like Hek and Shullai, the party is still expecting more even as it stated that they are in talks with four to five sitting legislators to join the party.
