Stating when it comes to the venue where the Independence parade would be held, he said that the district police has made elaborate security arrangements and police have also taken over the security at the Polo ground right from August 9.

"We would also be having elaborative security checks on the day of the celebration at Polo Ground to ensure no untoward incident takes plce," the SP added.

The East Khasi hills district administration has geared up preparing for the celebration in a big and positive way to allow massive public involvement and participation on that day.

The state government would be celebrating Independence Day with a lot of fanfare, music, sports, arts and colours.
