Imphal, January 15, 2018: The Thadou Students' Association has announced a 36-hour bandh in Imphal-Moreb, Imphal-Churachandpur, Imphal-Jiribam and lmphal-Dimapur roads starting from 6 am of January 16 over the failure of the state government to bring justice to two murder cases namely the Sugnu double murder case and the brutal murder of Thongkhogin Haokip who was an Assistant Teacher at Molnom Junior High School. The association is also acting upon the non-introduction of Thadou-Kuki (MIL) subject at Higher Secondary Schools in the valley.
The Thadou Students' Association in a press note has appealed to the general public, passenger transport associations and commuters for their earnest cooperation through the duration of the bandh.
The association's demands includes:
1. Immediate transfer of Sugnu double murder case that took place on May 5 2017 to an independent investigating commission such as Central Bureau Investigation (CBI).
2. Immediate arrest of the two culprits involved in the murder of (L) Thongkhogin Haokip, Assistant Teacher of Molnom Junior High School on February 29 2016 and,
3. Introduction of Thadou-Kuki (MIL) subject at Higher Seconday School in the valley districts of Manipur which has been long pending for implementation in spite of government order.
Medical duties, electricity, water supply, marriage ceremonies, religious activities and airports will be exempted with prior permission from the concern TSA branch leaders in the affected districts.
