Manipur: Food items from Myanmar, Bangladesh to be scanned for safety

IMPHAL, January 11, 2018:  L Jayantakumar Singh, Manipur health minister on Wednesday said that the state government would be keeping an eye on all the food items coming from Myanmar and Bangladesh to make sure that there is no health hazards.

Jayantakumar while interacting with media persons on health-related issues at his office chamber added that various food items including fruits and ice-packed fish coming from different parts of the country would also be scanned for safety.

States like Manipur gets packaged food in huge quantities from the neighboring countries of Myanmar and Bangladesh. Important details, such as manufacturing and expiry dates and nutritional ingredients in food packages of Myanmar are not clear because of their local language.
