Manipur: Bomb Blast rocks Imphal, Six civilians injured
IMPHAL: Six civilians were injured in a grenade bomb blast at Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai on Friday evening.
The bomb exploded around 6.25 pm at the court yard of Brojendra, where a head constable of police currently posted at Leinangtabi Jiribam.
The explosion inflicted injury on six civilians including a minor. It has been informed that the assailant was caught by the public, and beaten up black and blue.
A police team rushed to the scene and took away the perpetrators. The victims have been identified as AK Brojen Singh, 40, H Priyosana Devi, 75, AK Abena Devi, 28, Ak Danir Singh, Longjam Pepe Devi, 28, Thongam Bicha alias Babita Devi, 35.
However, the identity of the minor girl, one and a half year old, is yet to be known. While the motive behind the attack is yet to be known, a case has been registered by the police.
This is the second such explosion in a year. Earlier in the month of August, a seven-year-old girl was injured in a bomb blast near the BSF camp at Moirangpurel area in Manipur's Imphal East district. The bomb, believed to be an improvised explosive device (IED), went off in the morning hours.
