Euro 2016: Portugal beat Wales to move onto the finals

The semi finals of Euro 2016 has started and last night's match saw Portugal play Wales. The Welsh side were the clear underdogs but after beating Belgium in the quarter finals, they were not one to be dismissed easily.

The match was interesting but both sides found it difficult to score in the first half. Wales were clearly missing suspended Arsenal man Aaron Ramsey who has connected brilliantly with Gareth Bale throughout the tournament. Portugal were however the better side in the first half with better passing accuracy. Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the 50th minute with a brilliant header. Nani made it 2-0 by the 53rd minute.

Wales tried to make a comeback and bring in more attacking substitutes but the Welsh side could not hit the back of the net. The game ended 2-0 with Portugal advancing to the finals of the tournament. They will either meet Germany or France in the finals and Portugal will hope to avenge their finals loss in the Euro 2004 Cup where they lost to Greece.

France will take on Germany tonight at 12:30 am for a spot in the finals. (TNT Desk)
