Cry against AFSPA in Garo Hills grows louder

SHILLONG: Garo Hills in Meghalaya, which is reeling under the burden of insurgency has woken up the civic society following the latest ruling by the High Court on requesting the Centre to look upon imposing the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958. Led by RTI activist Angela Rangad, the group has expressed their objection towards this possibility adding that the unrest in Garo Hills is a political problem and that 'state sponsored terror' will not be accepted.

"The rally is the beginning of our protest and our voices will have to be louder as we demand truth, justice and peace," she said.

"We are here to say no to the ones who are unable to bring a peaceful solution to tackle law and order. Proper steps should be initiated to address the current issue in Garo Hills," added Rangad.
