Sikkim girl Drishya Chettri crowned Miss Teen India in Mumbai

GANGTOK: In what may be termed as a matter of pride for not on Sikkim but the entire Northeast Indian region,  Sikkim girl Drishya Chettri has been crowned Miss Teen India Continent during the beauty pageant held on November 15 at Mumbai. The 14-year-old will now represent India in an international beauty pageant in Thailand.

Drishya is a resident of Daragaon, Gangtok and a student of Bahai School, Tadong. She had applied for the pageant through Facebook and was supported by her parents and teachers.

"It was a tough competition. I feel that I could bring the crown home due to my hard work and dedication. I want to shine the name of my State and make my people proud of me," said Drishya in conversation with SIKKIM EXPRESS.

Drishya also thanked her parents, father B.K. Chettri who is a driver by profession and mother Kunta Chettri for their undying support despite many hurdles.

"My parents are my sole motivation and my biggest support. They have fulfilled all my wishes till date and have always supported my decisions and my dreams. I am really thankful to them and consider myself lucky to have such wonderful parents", she said.

She also thanked her school principal and teachers for being supportive.
