From a small town girl to Femina Miss India Sikkim 2018, here is Parmila Chhetri with TNT

From belonging to a rural village called Sang Khola in East Sikkim to becoming one of the most promising contestants of Femina Miss India 2018, Femina Miss India Sikkim 2018, Parmila Chhetri's journey has been heartwarming. With a dream to impact the society in a positive manner, this girl-next-door is now a national figure. Here is Parmila Chhetri in an exclusive interview with TNT- The Northeast Today.
TNT: Please tell us about your education, hobbies, childhood and family
Parmila: I am the first born to my parents. We are a family of 5. I have two younger brothers. Born and brought up in a small village called Sang Khola in East Sikkim, I grew up playing in the fields, blowing wishes on dandelions, picnicking at the riverside and playing kitchen games with my friends. Rural life was slow and simple, yet satisfying and content.

I completed my education from Government Senior Secondary School, Sang and acquired my further education from Sikkim Government College, Tadong.
I love indulging in adventurous activities especially rock climbing. My other hobbies include swimming and dancing.
TNT: Did you always wish to become a model? What were your dreams as a child?
Parmila: As a child I wanted to be an IPS officer. Though I didn't know the term IPS back then when I was a kid, I still remember that I wanted to be in that smart uniform with insignias shining on my shoulders and serve the nation. However, I was always fascinated by beauty pageants and modelling. The only fashion and lifestyle magazine (available at our 'only' newspaper shop in the village) was Femina. With my saved pocket money I used to buy it. The most beautiful and the smartest of them, posing with such grace and confidence, I always used to imagine myself being in their shoes.
TNT: How do you feel after winning Femina Miss India Sikkim 2018? How is your preparation for the Miss India2018 going on?
Parmila: I feel proud and privileged for I got the opportunity to represent my beautiful state Sikkim. Apart from these, I feel like I'm living a princess's moment as winning this said title changed me from being nothing to something.
The competition is extremely tough and the preparations are tougher. However, I'm not trying hard to become what I am not, instead I am focusing on improving towards what I can become. Meanwhile, I am enjoying every moment and learning something or the other from all my co-contestants.
TNT : What is your greater objective through this platform?
Parmila: My objective is to become someone who is well known and possesses the power to bring a positive impact in the society with her one word or action of positivity.
TNT: Who is/are your role models?
Parmila: When it comes to modelling and pageantry, my role models are Sushmita Sen and Priyanka Chopra. When it comes to life, my role model has always been my mother.
TNT: What is the best thing about being a beauty pageant winner?
Parmila: You turn into a star in a fraction of seconds.
TNT: Your message to aspiring models from Northeast India.
Parmila: Dream big. But only dreaming won't help. You need to work hard and stay focused and always use your wisdom.
