We all have those days when we feel awful about ourselves. There are days when we feel tired and under par with our best selves. It does not satisfy some of us with how we feel and look, but there are things we can do to feel better.

I have listed a few things that you can do on days when you feel like a downer. It doesn’t matter if you have the entire day to yourself, or you have taken out a few minutes from your busy schedule.

Here are a few things you can do to pamper yourself the right way.

Work out:

One way to get your body moving and get toxins out is to sweat and exercise. It doesn’t need to be a rigorous workout. You can try out Zumba, yoga, and if you’re extra motivated, you can try some pilates or resistance exercise. Any type of cardio is good enough if you just started with your fitness journey.

Put on a face mask:

For this, you can use your store-bought mask or utilise your own by mixing an equal part of honey and grounded oats. Wash your face with a cleanser before putting on your face mask.

Leave out your eye area and your lips when applying it. While you leave it on for 10 -15 minutes, you can use this time to pluck any stray hairs on your eyebrows.

You can also use this time to brush or floss your teeth, use some teeth whitening strips and even use a lip scrub.

To make your lip scrub, mix equal parts of honey and sugar and gently massage it on your lips. When you’re done with all this, you can wash off your mask with lukewarm water. Wash it by massaging your face in a circular motion.

This way you are also exfoliating your face. Follow this up by patting your face with a clean towel. After this, you can follow up with your everyday skincare routine.

Take some time to care for your hair:

If you are planning to take a bath or a shower, a hair mask is an ideal way to condition your hair and give a little tender loving care or TLC.

You can use your store-bought mask or use an oil that you have like coconut oil, almond oil, argan oil, olive oil or any other oil that you have at home.

Pimp your nails:

You can always give yourself a manicure or a pedicure by soaking your nails in lukewarm water and then trimming and filing your nails. During this time you can clean your old nail polish and exfoliate your feet as well. You can finish it by applying nail polish of your choice and moisturising your hands and feet.

Take a warm bath or shower:

Taking a bath is a good way to destress and relax your muscles. You can add some bath salts, bath bombs, or essential oils to your bath.

A bathtub also does wonders, and you could just give your body a good soak which would open the skin pores and draw out the dirt.

If you are planning to take a shower instead, you can also use this time to exfoliate your body with some bath gloves, a loofa, a body brush or even a body scrub.

You can also shave your legs or any other body part that you prefer during this time. When done with your shower, pat yourself dry and put on some moisturiser.

Try meditating:

Meditating is a good way to get in touch with your thoughts, emotions and free yourself of unwanted stress and restlessness.

You can try out meditating apps like Headspace and Calm, or you can simply burn a scented candle and put on some soothing music.

If aromatherapy isn’t your cup of tea, you can open your windows for some fresh air and focus on your breathing.

Declutter and arrange your closet:

This is a good way to feel less overwhelmed while picking an outfit and improving your overall mental health and mood. By organising your clothes, you have what you need and know where they are.

Watch your favourite movie or show:

Watching your favourite movie or show is a good way to elevate your mood and destress yourself. Make sure you’re in a comfortable seat, or even wrap yourself in a soft blanket, for extra comfort.

In this time, you can make yourself a nice cup of tea or coffee, whatever you prefer, or even have your favourite snack. You can even read a book.

Journaling:

This is a mindful way to practice gratitude and pen out your thoughts. Journalling is also an amicable method to count your blessings and remind yourself of your goals and achievements. This way, you will always be in touch with your inner self.

Wear comfortable clothes:

Comfortable clothes offer a certain level of calmness that is out of this world. So, on a day when you want to pamper yourself, do not forget this crucial step.
