Top FIVE metal vocalists of Meghalaya

Meghalaya, the unfathomed paradise on earth is not only blessed with natural beauty, but is also rich in its sound of music. Shillong is the hub of musicians and is well known as the Rock Capital of India. The Metal bands of Meghalaya are very rich in various styles/genres of metal music. The region has got a number of talented Metal Vocalists and artists of which Plague Throat from Shillong made it to the International level. These are the top 5 Metal vocalists of the State irrespective of rankings:

Nangsan Lyngwa of Plague Throat:

Nangsan Lyngwa is the vocalist and guitarist of Plague Throat. He is the focal point of the band and every time he comes on stage, he just leaves the crowd drooling. Plague Throat is a Death metal act from Shillong, Meghalaya. This guy knows no limit when he is performing- the way he synchronizes his vocals and guitar is just outstanding and the band goes really well along with the other members. His debut show with the band was on 8th August 2008 at Power Play. Ever since, they have been rising and even went on winning the Wacken Metal Battle, Indian 2014. They released their first EP in 2013 titled 'An Exordium to Contagion' under Incanned Productions.

Ryngkatlang Jyrwa of Aberrant. :

Ryngkatlang Jyrwa is known for his aggressive performance on stage. He made an entrance into the music scene at Campus Rock Idol as a vocalist of Native Rules in 2004. Currently, he is the vocalist of the renowned band Aberrant from Shillong. He was awarded as the best vocalist of Rock-O-Phoenix in 2006 during Native Rules period. He joined Aberrant in the year 2011. He has performed alongside bands like Undying Inc., Underside, Zygnema, Demonic Resurrection, Plague Throat, Project Blend Ltd., Dawn of Demise, Skyharbor, Karnivool, etc. He has won major competitions including Meghalaya Icon (2012), and runner-up of Rock-O-Phoenix, IIT, Guwahati (2013). He also took the title of best vocalist for both the events. He definitely holds a good future for the band.

Neil Nathaniel Lyngdoh of Dymbur:

Dymbur needs no introduction and with its name comes the name of Neil Lyngdoh (the vocalist). Along with his band mates, Neil always manages to put up a great show. With their genre being experimental metal, the band has lived up to the expectations of the metal fans in their hometown Shillong and the neighbouring states as well. To describe Neil's vocals, words just aren't enough. He was adorned with the title of Best Vocalist at the Shillong Battle Rock in the year 2014 and he deserved it with the incredible performance he gave. Dymbur emerged as the winners of Thundermarch, NIT Silchar earlier this year and it was one hell of a show. Dymbur has definitely taken the hard road to be one of the best well known Metal acts from Shillong.

Baribor K. Khongwir of Dead Calm Chaos:

Dead Calm Chaos is a Melodic Death Metal band with Baribor K. Khongwir as the vocalist. Baribor is the perfect add up in the band. He is an awesome and mind blowing singer, creating a fan following of his own apart from the band. DCC played their first ever show in 2011 on the 4th of June in Elephant Falls, Upper Shillong and there itself it made a benchmark of its own. Next up was the Cloud Confluence Concert, World Music Day in Shillong again on 21st June 2011. DCC got a major break when they were called for the opening of Death Metal giants Dawn of Demise from Denmark in Shillong for Rebel County 2012.

Amedious Nongbri of Symphonic Illusion:

Amedious Nongbri is the vocalist of Progressive Metal Core band -Symphonic Illusion. He joined the band in the year 2014. Amedious is a genuine and hard-core metal fan and this reflects in his singing. He has a true passion for metal and wants to take the metal scene of the region to a whole new level. Major influencers of the band are Parkway Drive, Asking Alexandria, August Burns Red, Texas In July, Chelsea Grin, Auras, Periphery, Suicide Silence, Stevie T, Zomboy and many more. Hope to see Symphonic illusion in some of the upcoming gigs.
