Northeastern designers shine at Lakme Fashion Week
The Lakme Fashion Week which recently concluded in Mumbai showcased a variety of talent plenty of which came from the Northeast. Three very talented designers from the Northeast have showcased their collections this time.
Diming Rubu is an up and coming designer from Arunachal Pradesh. Her label is calle Dming and it offers semi-formal silhouettes, targeting young adults from ages 22 to 45. It offers a new kind of casual wear that has the status of a formal wear. The garments are very flexible and can be worn at any occasions. The strong points of the label are the pattern making and the construction of the garments.
Asa Kazingmei is a 30 year old designer who hails from Nagaland. His work is described as edge, experimental, exuberant. He is also a non conformist and has limits.
Prathoni Yengkhom (Poco) and Jacky Laishram launched Poco and Jacky in 2014, with a debut showcase at Lakme Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2014, Jabong Stage. Hailing from Imphal, Manipur, they are based out of Delhi.
They are both an ardent fans of vintage style and fashion; their designs are influenced by vintage elements with a younger, fresher interpretation and focuses on immaculate tailoring and finishing.
