Here is Sycamore with The Northeast Today
TNT. So Sycamore did happen and what does your name connotes?
SYCAMORE: Sycamore is the name of a tree, so we're kind of different branches of a tree since we all grew up in the same home town .We feel our band is a metal band that also possesses characteristics of other genres of music.
TNT. Give us a retrospect of the rock/metal scenario of your hometown. Northeast is also nowhere less in producing so many new talents in the scenario, creating a new level of the Indian Rock scene.
SYCAMORE: Yeah, there are so many new talents here, lots of great upcoming bands. A few shows here and there. However we feel that Northeast as a whole needs a dedicated base in terms of sponsorship and promotion to actually harness these extraordinary talents and exposure.
TNT. What is unique about you people and your band that separates you from the others in the present scenario?
SYCAMORE: We draw our inspiration from old school music with a hint of nu-metal. We aspire to create a signature sound that is groovy and easy to listen for people that aren't necessarily metal fans.
TNT. You guys released your single Batman. Tell us the underlying theme behind that.
SYCAMORE: It's a something that is inspired by the superhero we all know and love, BATMAN. It is a hate-note for corruption infused politician and capitalists.
TNT. How much emphasis you put on lyrics, in your approach to song writing?
SYCAMORE: Our song writing varies from song to song but mostly the tune comes first then we huddle up, talk about life, its issues and struggles. Ultimately, Valpuia(Our Vocalist) would then pen down the words.
TNT. What are your opinion regarding being commercial for a band in today's rock/metal scene? Do you feel commercialism has a negative vibe on band? What's your take on that?
SYCAMORE: We as musicians intend to create art, to affect people, to make them think. But in order to sell, the sad fact is that there needs to be a certain level of commercialism to get your music across, to get your brand across to a fresher, wider audience, etc.
TNT. A brief Insight into your future plans? What are the future perspectives of your band?
SYCAMORE: We are currently working on our very first EP. We are hopeful that it will come out soon and if all plans go smooth, maybe an album within a few months as well.
