Assam: 19-year-old working in Guwahati restaurant becomes talk of town

GUWAHATI:

Nineteen-year-old Surajit Tripura, who works as a guest service associate at Absolute Barbecues (AB’s) in Assam, is slowly becoming the talk of the town for his “eye-catching” dance moves.

A video showcasing Surajit’s dance moves in front of guests at Absolute Barbecues, a leading barbecue restaurant chain, has since gone viral.

Hailing from Sabroom in Tripura, Surajit has been working in Guwahati for some time now. He idolises popular dancer, Raghav Juyal, who has shared Surajit’s video on Instagram.

Expressing his joy on becoming the latest Internet sensation, Surajit said, “I feel overwhelmed by the way guests and staff members at AB’s treat me. It is not less than a dream to see guests talking so nicely to me, asking me to dance with them and even take selfies with me.”

“I never thought I would ever get recognition from my idol, Raghav Juyal… But when he shared my video on his Instagram status, that moment made my day. This gesture has encouraged me to take my passion seriously,” he said.

A dance aspirant, Surajit completed his higher secondary education from Brajendra Nagar Higher Secondary School in South Tripura.

Dance videos on YouTube attracted him from childhood, during which he started to dance and followed Juyal’s dance moves.

He joined Absolute Barbecues in Guwahati for livelihood and soon his talent was noticed by the management and he was encouraged to pursue his passion.

“When we came to know about Surajit’s dancing talent, we encouraged him to dance during staff parties and also in front of the guests at the restaurant. Guests now visit our restaurant to see his dance. One of them made a video of Surajit dancing, which now has gone viral on social media,” said Utpal Das, cluster manager at AB’s.
