2nd NE Region AA Convention to be held in Shillong on Feb 22

The Alcoholics Anonymous North East and AA foundation will be celebrating its silver jubilee during the two-day 2nd North East Region AA Convention to be held at Multi-Purpose Convention Auditorium in Shillong on February 22 and 23.
As part of the celebration, there will be Public Information Meet at the same venue on February 21 from 6 pm onwards. It may be mentioned that the Shillong Chapter of "Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) was started with the formation of the AA Foundation Group on March 23, 1994.
Briefing media persons on the two-day convention at Shillong Press Club on Wednesday, a member of Shillong Chapter AA told that there are expecting 200 plus delegates attending the convention adding that there are a large number of delegates from across India, who will be attending the convocation.
He said that the group from Mumbai will be highlighting their experience on how they have manages to help people come out from the addiction and dependence of alcohol.
A member of Shillong Chapter AA said that they have fixed around five session where speakers would speak on the different topics on alcohol addiction and the way forward on how to help people come out of the problem of alcoholism.
Meanwhile, he said that AA Foundation Shillong since inception in 1994 has been actively involved in spreading the message of AA and has conducted various awareness programmes in different parts of the State with schools, colleges, hospitals and even with the police and various paramilitary forces.
The member of Shillong Chapter of AA said that they are not against alcohol per say, adding that their main objective is to help people, who are afflicted with the disease of alcoholism.
