Tête-à-tête with Nagaland’s “Kenny and the Faith Band”

Winter is usually the time of the year when musicians look forward to making their fortune. Unfortunately, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, things have changed for artists across the globe.

COVID-19 has affected every aspect of human life and day-to-day activities.

But there is still hope for the region’s most popular music and cultural festivals.

With that said, TNT-The Northeast Today brings you an exclusive tête-à-tête with a band from the region which has been consistent in churning out new material, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Let’s welcome Kenny and the Faith Band - a Modern Alternative Christian Rock band formed in 2017 in Nagaland.

They primarily puts out songs about being optimistic in life, and to carry on with hope in one’s life.

The band believes that music has always been their solace, and an invisible weapon to help them overcome life’s challenges.

The recently released single “Why worry why,” - an upbeat, motivational song with the lyrics “Hai man, wake up, time for you to shine like stars. Beautiful day, God bless you, cause yesterday is gone" talks about, life which is beautiful, and it will be complete when we stop worrying too much about the unnecessary things and stuffs surrounding our life, and if we know this and leave all our worries, problems on God's hands, God will take care of everything because God knows what is good for us and what will be best for us, our part is to Trust God and be Happy, Content" - Kenny.

Some songs that the band has produced are “Live together,” “Lost City,” “Racism Jokers,” “This is Your Life and others.”

TNT: Tell us how your band started?

-The band was formed by a group of friends who wanted to try out for a rock contest.

TNT: Tell us about the band members?

-The band members are Kenny (Vocal and Back-Up Guitar), Tovi on Drums, Wonchi on the Bass Guitar (Backing Vocals) and Vika on the Lead Guitar (Backing Vocals).

TNT: How has music been since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic?

-The pandemic has been hard on the band, as like many other bands (we) miss going live on stage, and also miss performing and playing live gigs, shows and concerts.

We also had to cancel some gigs, shows and concerts because of the pandemic. (We are) hoping and praying that this pandemic ends soon, and everything will get back to normal so that the band can go back on stage and perform.

TNT: Tell us more about your song “Lost City.”?

-The Song “Lost City” conveys the message about lost souls searching for answers to life. It talks about souls that are becoming like dead bones without the proper feeding of God’s word upon their lives.

It talks about broken dreams because of corruption. It talks about youths getting lost in new trends and about human nature and the greed for money, property, positions and selfishness.

But it also talks about how God is the only and last hope for humanity.

TNT: Are you working on any new projects?

-The band released an Extended Play (EP) Album “Live Together” on World Music Day 21st June 2019, the EP Album of the Band have five songs, which talks about how to live a Positive Life, about Hope and Social Issues of the Society.

TNT: What are your future plans?

-The band is working on some new original songs. We are also planning to release a few official music videos.

We are hoping to play gigs and shows outside our state (Nagaland) which would enable us to share and spread our music to more people and more music lovers.
