SHILLONG:

Lamphang Syiemlieh, who hails from a celebrated family of musicians and is often praised for his powerful, melodious and mesmerising voice released a new song "This Christmas This Year (They Deserve It Too)" on Sunday.

The song’s main intention is to bring out the true meaning of Christmas which is sometimes forgotten by people.

“We tend to pay more attention to the materialistic things but I just want the listeners to take a step back and listen. I want them to have a moment to thank God for the blessings he has showered upon us, and most importantly, to pray for the less fortunate who cannot even afford to buy a Christmas cake. So, this song is especially dedicated to the Street Children in Meghalaya”, said Lamphang.

This song is a unique collaboration of Lamphang Syiemlieh and 12 other local artists (Adoryllene Sawian, Agracia Kharmudai, Perry Majaw, Melinda Kharsati, Megan Syiem, Meristela Pyngrope, Wadlahshem Mawa, Jerry Berg Marbañiang, Neil Umwi, Manasseh Nongkynrih, Malcolm Manbha Nongsiej and Bryan Umwi).

The orchestral arrangement was made by Augustine Kurbah and the members of the orchestra included Mia Weiss- Violin, Ksenia Gorbachev- Cello, James Hudson- Violin, Mikhail Pochekin- Violin, Martha Psyko- Violin, Pablo Ferrandaz- Cello and others.

It was recorded at Marqbac Studios and the video was done by El Dhar. Syiemlieh believes that each artist involved in this project understood the message and, their humility shone throughout the song.

Lamphang’s message this Christmas:

Let this Christmas Single be a reminder to all that God has blessed us so much, especially this year. Let us all be thankful for our good health and, the strong bond and relationships with our family and loved ones. Let us all Love More, Forgive More and be a Blessing to people around.
