Avenues Shillong has begun a series called #AvenuesIcon– a series of episodes that features people from Northeast India who are inspiring others with their work.

In this episode, Avenues in association with TNT- The Northeast Today is featuring Janessaline Pyngrope– A headstrong woman, Janessaline is a powerhouse on her own and is the definition of Miss Independent! After working extensively in rural development at the grassroot level in Manipur through the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD), Janessaline came back to Meghalaya and worked to uplift traditional weavers in Ri Bhoi district. She is the Co-Founder & Business Head of Daniel Syiem's Ethnic Fashion House(DSEFH), Meghalaya, India. With a lot of experiences and achievements up her sleeves, she was featured in Fox Traveller's What's With Indian Women, Shillong Chapter and has been mentioned in the book written by Mr. David Das, 'Trailblazers, Meghalaya (2nd Edition)'. She was awarded with "The Vasundhara North East Women Entrepreneur of the year" 2014-2015 for the State of Meghalaya to acknowledge her entrepreneurial abilities and leadership quality. She also received the 100 Pipers True Legends Awards, in association with the Telegraph in 2016. While her accomplishments are many, we fell in love with her when she said, "You work for yourself but you need to help someone else too" which proves her entrepreneurial spirit and active leadership through her efforts to promote weavers and artisans in Meghalaya that has also been a factor in making their mark globally as a fashion house with the Daniel Syiem Label launched in India, New York, Toronto, London and Rome.
