As the beauty queens gear up for Fbb femina Miss India 2018 crown, the seven contestants representing Northeast India are busy grooming themselves to leave no stone un turned in making their states and the region proud. Amidst the busy schedule, TNT- The Northeast Today caught up a conversation with Fbb Femina Miss India Manipur Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia and got to know more about the contestant. Here are extracts of our interview with her-

TNT- Tell us about your childhood days?

Nimrit- My childhood is the reason where I am today. I have lived in 8 states and I love to learn more about different cultures. Back in school, I was always into extracurricular activities like debating, theatre, sports, etc. I was also the School Captain and represented my school and my country for a student's exchange program to Italy in association with Asia Europe Foundation.

TNT- As a kid, did you always aspire to become a model?

Nimrit- I never knew that I would actually turn into a model because ever since I was in 8th grade, I knew I wanted to be a lawyer. However, participating in Miss India was always in the back of my mind.

TNT- How did the idea of modeling come to you?

Nimrit- I had always loved to be in front of the camera and being a theatre enthusiast, it came naturally to me. I never wanted to model per se, but yes, I did want to participate in Miss India and use my education for the betterment of the people around me.

TNT- When you were crowned as Miss Manipur 2018, how was the feeling?

Nimrit- I believe in that moment, everything around me paused for a few seconds. I just felt so grateful that God had blessed me and my efforts had finally paid off.

TNT- Tell us about education and your academic pursuits so far?

Nimrit- I'm a final year law student of the 5 year BA. LLB course. I have interned with numerous law firms across the country. I have also interned with the Ministry of Women and Child Development and contributed towards reports for the National Mission for Empowerment of Women in association with UN Women, Delhi. I have been placed with Howden Insurance, Mumbai through Campus Placements.

TNT- How supportive was your family with your decision of taking up modeling as a career?

Nimrit- My parents are the reason where I am today. I hope every child has parents as supportive and encouraging as them.

TNT- What do you think about the fashion scene in Northeast India?

Nimrit- As a child, Northeast has played a major role in inculcating a sense of fashion and style in my personality. I think the fashion sense here is very chic and forward. We are known for the same across the country.


TNT- What message do you want to convey through modeling?

Nimrit- I want to use modelling as a way to endorse and promote my state.
