Two ULFA (I) cadres held with grenades in Assam

KOHIMA | Aug 10, 2019:

Two active cadres of ULFA (I) were apprehended during a joint operation launched by the Army and Assam Police recently in Tinsukia, Assam. Two live Chinese made hand grenades were also seized from their possession.

The apprehended ULFA (I) cadres have been identified as SS Corporal Polo Asom @ Rohit Kuli, resident of Gojupuria village in Sadiya District (active since 2011) and SS Pvt Ridip Asom @ Pranab Jyok Baruah, resident of Shantipur village in Dhemaji District (active since 2019).

The nabbed insurgents along with recovered grenades have been handed over to Police for further investigations.

"The operation is part of the heightened  levels of security ahead of Independence Day to counter the insurgent groups from disrupting peace in Upper Assam," said Defence sources.
