Two Muslim fundamentalist militants arrested
GUWAHATI: In a joint operation with Goalpara police, Army troops under the aegis of Red Horns division apprehended two Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) extremists on Thursday morning. The terrorists were in possession of pistols and fake Indian currency notes amounting to Rs. 2 lakhs.
In another joint operation conducted by Army and Meghalaya Police, one Over Ground Worker of Achik Matgrik Elite Forces (AMEF), a Meghalaya based militant group was apprehended near Kharkuta last night. The OGW identified as Tilling Arengh (36) is a resident from Nadrirongdik district in North Garo Hills.
"He was coming to deliver extortion note in village Kharkuta. Accordingly, a party of Army and Police established a check post on Jambalgiri – Daranggiri road and the OGW was apprehended when he was approaching the village on a motorcycle," security sources said.
Five extortion notes of AMEF, one Hero Honda motor cycle, mobile phones and other documents were recovered from the apprehended OGW.
