Two held on extortion charges in Tripura

AGARTALA:

The Tripura Police (Crime branch) arrested two persons from Ushabazar and Airport area on February 17 in connection with extortion charges and other criminal activities

The culprits identified as Ranjan Nag and Shibu Malakar were reportedly involved in extortion from contractors and other crime-related activities in the area.

The police had initiated an action to nab both Ranjan and Shibu earlier this week after receiving complaints from the contractors in the area and subsequently arrested them.

In recent times, several incidents of extortion and money laundering have been reported in Tripura.

It must be mentioned that in a similar incident last month, two contractors hailing from Assam and Odisha were abducted by unknown miscreants.
