Schools in Tripura reopened for students from class 5 to 8 on Monday following the government nod to open educational institutions.
“All the government, government-aided and private schools can resume classes from 5 to 8 from January 4 along with the hostels attached to schools, colleges and professional institutions,” Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said.
The move to open lower classes comes a month after the resumption of classes 10 and 12.
On December 27, the government had decided to reopen educational institutions after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had instructed all the states to open schools in a phased manner.
Since the COVID-19 vaccine has not yet arrived, the Tripura Education Department has directed the school authorities to clean and sanitize the rooms and building before resuming classes, and to submit a report for the same.
