IPFT (Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura) had withdrawn from the alliance agreement with TIPRA, over seat-sharing differences.

When asked why he (Pradyot) is contesting from the constituency of the IPFT leader NC Debbarma’s constituency, he said, “I choose to fight from Takarjala-Jampuijala because all communities of TIPRASA people including Tripuri, Reang, Kolai, Jamatia and others live here.”

Meanwhile, Pradyot’s contender from the IPFT will be Brajlal Debbarma, as announced by the BJP and IPFT on Tuesday.
