AGARTALA: A first-year medical student of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) was found dead at her house in Kamal Nagar under Kalyanpur, Tripura on Thursday.

The student, identified as Swarnali Das, was suspected to have taken her own life, though the cause of suicide is yet to be ascertained.

Police informed that Das was home for the holidays.

This is the second suicide case involving medical students. Recently, a final year medical student, Adarsh De was found dead in the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) hostel in Agartala.

In another case, a young man identified as Vivesh Debbarma was found hanging near ADC Headquarter at Khumulwng in West Tripura on Thursday.

Police are not ruling out any foul play as the death appears to be unnatural since the deceased's feet were touching the ground.

Radhapur Police have sent the body for post-mortem, and an investigation is on.

In yet another case, a 25-year-old housewife identified as Anita Kanda was allegedly murdered by her husband at Kalachari area of Kamalpur in Dhalai district on Thursday night.

Sources informed that neighbours heard a loud cry coming from the house and, on investigation they found Kanda lying in a pool of blood.

She was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead.

Police suspect the husband to be behind the reported murder and informed that investigation into the case is underway.
