Tripura receives Rs 875 crore from 15th Finance Commission

Tripura received a grant of Rs 875 crore from the 15th Finance Commission following the approval of the Central Government and the Finance Commission.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government on behalf of 37 lakh people in the northeastern state.

The 15th Finance Commission approved Rs. 400 crore for constructing two dams at Champaknagar and Champaichhara to remedy the water problem in Agartala municipal area and adjoining areas.

“The construction of a ropeway at 51 Shaktipeeth and Matabari Tripurashwari temple, including the sound and light show project at Nirmahal, was sanctioned for Rs. 175 crore. This will open new horizons for tourism in Tripura,” Deb said.

The 15th Finance Commission also approved Rs. 100 crore for constructing a building complex to bring various government offices of the state under one roof.

“This will open new horizons in the state in tourism and water supply and infrastructure development. This is going to be a very important milestone in the development journey of the state,” Deb said.
