Tripura ranked second in nation-wide vaccination drive

The Union Home Ministry, on Wednesday, ranked Tripura second among all the states for the percentage of health workers inoculated in the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive.

The first phase of the nation-wide vaccination drive kicked off across the country on January 16 and aimed at inoculating all frontline health workers.

The Tripura Health Department informed that they vaccinated approximately 77 per cent of the health workers - the second-highest figure in India.

According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), 12 states in the country vaccinated 65 per cent of all health workers with Bihar topping the list at 78 per cent.

The Union Ministry also directed all states to complete the first phase of the vaccination drive by March 6, 2021.

Meanwhile, the Tripura Health Department informed that the vaccination has shown positive results and reported no adverse effects concerning those who had received the vaccine.

In the first phase, approximately 47,413 frontline workers were identified for vaccination by the Tripura Health Department, including doctors, nurses and other medical staff.
