The Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) and royal scion Pradyot Kishore’s TIPRA (The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance) jointly organised a rally at Khumulung on February 24.

Leaders of both the regional parties have appealed to the indigenous people of Tripura to unite for ‘Greater Tipraland’.

Though the meeting had been called by a conglomerate of regional forces comprising IPFT, Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT), Tripura People's Front (TPF) and the newly formed TIPRA, INPT leaders Jagadish Debbarma, Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl and TPF leader Patal Kanya Jamatya boycotted the rally.

“We will capture the ADC in the upcoming election. For the past seventy years, the so-called national parties have only secured votes of the indigenous people but have done nothing for them; now is the time for change. We will secure our base in the forthcoming election to ensure development of our people. There will be no compromise for Tipraland,” said Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman.
