The Tripura government has high expectations that the COVID-19 vaccines will reach the state within this month (January).

“We expect the vaccines to be airlifted from Delhi or Kolkata,” Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath said on Tuesday.

Tripura held the first phase of dry run for Covid vaccination on January 3. The second phase will be held on January 8 in 80 locations across the state, Nath informed.

The first trial was carried out at Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) hospital, Borakha and Gandhighat in West Tripura district.

The dry run was conducted to check the detailed preparedness of the entire vaccination procedures, including storage, etc.

Nath also informed that the government is keeping a tap on the country-wide situation concerning the new strain of coronavirus.

Earlier, the Government of India had announced that it is all set to introduce the COVID-19 vaccine within 10 days from emergency use authorisation.
