Tripura conducts second phase of COVID-19 vaccination dry run

 |

AGARTALA: The dry run of the second phase of corona vaccination is going on in Tripura on Friday, after the first trial on January 3, in West Tripura District.

The second dry run is going on in 152 places of all the eight districts, with maximum 38 dry run spots in West Tripura District.

"The preparedness of vaccination is judged by these dry runs. Vaccination drills or dry-runs have started in all the districts today morning, to check the final preparations on how the vaccines will be distributed, how the injections will be given, and how to preserve them. The health workers are the beneficiary of the dry run," Dr Asish Kumar Pal, of Tripura health department said.

"Corona antidote has not yet arrived in India. The Indian government has given clearance to the Oxford vaccine. People are waiting for a mass vaccination programme," he added.

Corona vaccination will start in the state as soon as the central government gives the green signal.

The overall preparedness for the vaccination has been made in the state but, the arrival of vaccines to the state's health department is yet to be confirmed.

Earlier, the state education minister Ratan Lal Nath said vaccines are supposed to arrive in the state before January ends.

"The vaccines are expected to be airlifted, from Delhi or Kolkata," Nath had said.

On arrival, the health workers and other frontline workers will be prioritised for the vaccination.
