AGARTALA:

Tripura celebrated the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on Saturday.

Political parties, clubs, social organisations, NGOs and trade unions also took part in the day’s celebrations.

Earlier, the left front of Tripura demanded the Central government to declare Netaji’s birthday as ‘Deshprem Divas’ (patriotism day).

Later, the Central government declared the 125th birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra as a ‘Parakram Divas’.

This year, the celebrations in Tripura were a low-key affair because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Education Department organised a programme at Netaji Subhash School in Agartala, which was attended by Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath and West Tripura MP Pratima Bhowmik.

They also hoisted the National Flag in clubs, houses, political party offices, business establishments and educational institutions.
