Tripura: BJP, IPFT to go ahead with “Friendly Election Fight”

AGARTALA:

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, on March 8, held a meeting with BJP leaders at his residence discussing matters concerning the Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections.

They held the meeting after the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) had sent a proposal to contest friendly fights in some seats.

During the meeting, Deb asked the BJP to negotiate with IPFT and go ahead with the “Friendly Election Fight”.

Meanwhile, the IPFT has already declared 18 candidates for the upcoming ADC elections and stated its desire to contest friendly fights in some seats.

“If IPFT wants a friendly fight for some seats, then why not in every seat?” questioned the party leaders and MLAs.

“The BJP is the bigger power in tribal areas in Tripura, so they should get the maximum number of seats,” they added.

The last date of filing in the nominations is March 12, and the BJP is still trying to figure out seat-sharing, among other things.

Meanwhile, the left front has already started filling nominations and campaigning in different parts of the state.

The IPFT had recently violated the alliance with BJP by aligning with TIPRA and then announced 18 seats without informing the BJP.
