Tripura: 50-year-old woman dies in elephant attack

A 50-year-old lady became a victim of an elephant attack here on Thursday after a herd of elephants attacked the vehicle on which she was travelling.

According to reports, a group of people who were travelling on a car came under a sudden attack from the elephant, while the other members somehow fled from the car, the lady got stuck and eventually succumbed after the attack.

Local sources informed that the vehicle was going to Champahaor from North Maharani, an area frequented by elephants.

After getting the information, authorities rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the victim.

The body was thereafter taken to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem.

The deceased has been identified as Khilanti Debbarma, aged about 50 years.
