Security personnel commits suicide in Tripura

AGARTALA:

A 38-year-old Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan committed suicide at the state police headquarter (PHQ) on March 10.

The deceased, identified as Bijan Karmakar of Unakoti district, was posted in the first battalion. Karmakar was staying in a rented house at AD Nagar in Agartala.

Sources state that Karmakar came to the PHQ to begin his duties, but around 7:45 pm, he shot himself with his service rifle.

After the incident, top officials rushed to the spot along with the state forensic team.

Following a preliminary investigation, police said that the jawan might have committed suicide out of depression.
