Police seize arms, drugs in Tripura

Tripura Police, on Tuesday, arrested two youths and seized 30 small containers of brown sugar from their possession in Gomoti district.
They have identified the two accused as Shubhankar Acharya and Dipankar Majumder.
Based on the information provided by them during interrogation, a police team raided the house of Shravan Kumar Jamatia, the primary drug trafficker in Amarpur and Karbook sub-divisions and recovered 353 containers of brown sugar, Rs 67,620, and a home-made revolver and a pistol.
However, Jamatia fled before police arrived at his residence.
A case was registered under various sections of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act, and the two accused were handed over to the sub-divisional court on Tuesday afternoon.
