AGARTALA:

Fresh outbreaks of bird flu have been reported from various parts of the country, but there have been no reports from Tripura so far.

Director of Animal Resource Development Department (ARD) Dr K Sashikumar said that the state government had directed the department to report any incidences concerning the unnatural death of birds or any other animals at the earliest.

States such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Kerala have all reported outbreaks of bird flu.

With the spread of bird flu across various locations in India, the Union ministry on January 6 issued an advisory warning to all the states to put in place proper containment measures.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh, through a PIB release, informed that the Avian Influenza (AI) viruses discovered recently are linked to the migratory birds coming into India during the winter months.

The government has accordingly prepared an action plan for prevention and control of Avian Influenza in the country, though there is no evidence of human transmission till now.
