NLFT leader brought to Tripura after arrest by Mizoram police

NLFT (National Liberation Front of Tripura) leader Parimal Debbarma, who was arrested by Mizoram police from Aizawl, on March 12 was brought to Tripura on Monday.

The NLFT leader was brought from Aizawl by transit remand by the Tripura Police, and was taken to Kanchanpur court, and later sent to fourteen days police remand.

The arrest was made through close coordination between Tripura Police and Mizoram Police.

A police officer of the Kanchanpur subdivision stated that Debbarma demanded Rs 15 lakh from a contractor of Kanchjanpura.

DG Tripura Police VS Yadav said that besides NLFT (BM), another group named NLFT (Parimal) is active, of which Parimal is the leader.

Before his surrender in 2014, Parimal Debbarma was earlier a member of the NLFT (BM) group, and was in the state for two years, and fled to Bangladesh, later in 2017.

Yadav said that they got the information of his entrance to Aizawl from one of his group members.

The top cop added that further investigation is on.
