Microfinance agent attacked, robbed in Tripura's Simna village

A microfinance agent was thrashed and robbed of over two lakh rupees by unknown miscreants at Simna village in Tripura on Wednesday.

The microfinance agent, identified as Suman Debnath, was rushed to the GBP trauma centre for treatment. His condition is said to be critical.

Suman Debnath hails from Bishramganj of Sepahijala District.

Debnath, who works for Bandhan microfinance as a collecting agent, was returning from Simna village on his motorcycle after collecting loan instalment from the villagers.

On the way, unknown miscreants attacked him with a sharp weapon and robbed over two lakh rupees from his possession.

The villagers noticed Suman lying in a 'pool of blood', and immediately rushed him to Katlamara Primary hospital. He was later referred to GBP hospital in Agartala.
