Lady drug peddler arrested in Tripura, huge quantity of brown sugar recovered

Tripura Police arrested a lady drug peddler from the capital city of Agartala on Tuesday night.

According to the Sub-divisional Police office (SDPO) of Sadar Police Station, Ramesh Yadav, the accused - Uma Malakarand, was nabbed from her residence located at West Champamura along with 120 grams of Brown Sugar, 200 Brown Sugar stuffed vials and around 1,000 empty vials.

A day earlier, Tripura police managed to arrest a drug kingpin - Nahid Miah, a Bangladeshi national, with a huge quantity of drugs and cash.

"Miah was one of the biggest suppliers and a kingpin of the drug business in Agartala city," Yadav said.

"The drugs enter Tripura through Bangladesh, Shillong and Manipur," Yadav added.

"We are trying to break the whole nexus of drug peddling in the state and also keeping close vigilance on the movement of suspicious people," he added.
