Gold seized at Agartala airport

AGARTALA:

A 26-year-old man, from West Bengal, was arrested with eight gold biscuits seized worth around ₹ 26 lakh from his possession at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, in Tripura on Sunday.

The police have identified the arrested individual as Nikesh Gupta.

He was arrested after security personnel spotted him putting gold biscuits into his luggage after undergoing an X-ray baggage scanning yesterday, police said.

Nikesh was to board an Air India flight to Kolkata.

They have registered a case against the accused on charges of gold smuggling.
