AGARTALA:

Three more people succumbed to COVID-19 in Tripura in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 380.

According to the Tripura health department bulletin, the mortality rate in the state has also risen to 1.15 per cent.

So far, the total number of infected people in the state is 33,018. 13 fresh cases of coronavirus were detected on Tuesday.

As many as 32,590 people have recovered from the virus and, the recovery rate stands at 98.27 per cent. The number of active patients is 192, registering a positivity rate of 5.74 per cent.

Tripura recorded 1,42,112 tests in per million till now.

Tripura government is claiming that the covid situation is now better compared to the previous months adding that the number of positive patients has decreased while the recovery rate is high.

However, the opposition has claimed that the positivity rate in the state has decreased since the government has reduced the number of testing.

Meanwhile, the union health ministry has alerted the state government regarding a new strain of coronavirus.

The ministry had sent a new standard operating protocol (SOP) advising the state government to conduct COVID test on those who came to India from Britain from Nov 25 till Dec 23.
