BJP meet discusses ADC poll preparation in Tripura

Tripura BJP Prabhari Vinod Sonkar, on Friday, held a meeting with party leaders concerning the Autonomous District Council (ADC) election.

Sonkar arrived in Tripura for a three-day visit to discuss the modalities on the upcoming election.

According to sources, the election was delayed because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The former Chief Secretary G Kameshwar Rao was appointed as the administrator for six months and was later extended for another six months last November.

“The state government has done a lot for the ADC, and we have sent a proposal to the Centre to hand over 43 more departments to the ADC,” said Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma, who was present at the meeting.

Others who were present included BJP state president Manik Saha and other dignitaries.

Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) has 28 seats, and in last 15 years, no other party has won a single seat in the ADC.
