Tripura police to strengthen security for Durga Puja

AGARTALA: Aiming to ensure peaceful Durga Puja, the Tripura police has decided to strengthen security forces throughout the state.

Durga puja would be organized in total 2,509 places across the state. Of the total, 1,014 pujas would be organized in urban areas whereas, 1,495 pujas in rural areas. Police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF), Assam Rifles (AR) would be deployed in and around the city, remote areas and even in Indo-Bangla bordering areas.

"Total 4100 police and 3350 Tripura State Rifles (TSR )personnel would be deployed in the state. Besides, 120 police assistance booths would be set up across the state with 25 police assistance booths in Agartala city. Total 38 watch-towers would be constructed in critical locations with 16 in Agartala," DGP- K Nagraj said.

Closed-circuit television(CCTVs) would be installed in areas where there would be huge footfall. Security forces would be requested to seal the borders for Durga Puja, he added.
