Tripura: PCI slaps notice on senior administrative officer
AGARTALA: Pankaj Chakraborty, a senior administrative officer who made headlines after comparing newspapers of Tripura with 'toilet paper', was served a notice by Press Council of India as per sources.
The notice was also served to Chief Secretary – YP Singh, DGP – K Nagraj, Superintendent of Police of two districts – West and Khowai, Home secretary to remain present in the hearing of the case at Soochna Bhawan in New Delhi on July 13. Pankaj Chakraborty, DCM of Khowai District had likened Tripura newspapers to 'toilet papers' in his Facebook post on August 16, last year.
He even campaigned against the newspapers as the newspapers criticized his post against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. A journalists' union filed an FIR against the officer at West Agartala Police Station.
