Tension prevails at Gurkha Basti area under West Tripura District over a mysterious case of a married woman who is missing since October 19. Purnima Debbarma had gone to Kolkata along with her father-in-law Chandan Pal for a job interview but sources informed that Chandan Pal came back home alone as her daughter-in-law went missing at the Kolkata Airport.

It has been alleged by the family members of the missing girl that she was a victim of domestic violence at her in-law's house. She was often beaten up by her in laws and husband (Biswajit Pal). The family members of Purnima Debbarma lodged an FIR at West Women PS against the husband and in laws.

However police while investigating the case unearthed some shocking facts about the case.

"We have registered a case against the husband and in laws of the missing girl under section 498 (A)/ 364/34 of IPC. But while investigating the case we found out that the girl might have eloped with another guy with whom she was in continuous contact. The last location of their cell phones were at Mumbai. We have not arrested anyone yet as we are still investigating the case", said investigating officer of the case S.I. Soma Saha.
