Tripura: Kerfuffle between the Judiciary and Administration

AGARTALA: A case is going on against the Law Secretary of Tripura, Data Mohan Jamatia for his controversial note against the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court. Meanwhile, Data Mohan has been transferred to Kailashahar District Court by the High Court itself on 15th July, 2015. The High Court asked the Chief Secretary to take the necessary steps at the administrative level.

The Court also directed to bring Kailashahar District Court Judge, Gautam Debnath as Officer-on-Special Duty (OSD) and the directives should be complied within 3rd August, 2015 as recommended by the Court.

However, the State Government refuses to abide by the directives of the Court.

As mandated by law, the Law Secretary of a state is appointed by the Court at the request of the concerned State Government citing the post's vacancy.

Eminent Lawyer, Manish Kar Bhowmik said, "Such commotions or fuss between the administration and the judiciary is not a healthy sign of democracy."
