Tripura: Congress to stage a Dharna at Delhi
AGARTALA: A 200-member of Tripura Congress delegation would go to Delhi on 12th June aiming to stage a dharna on 17th June to realize their demands of initiating a CBI probe into the state's chit fund scams. Firstly, the delegation would meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi and the party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on 15th June and they would also meet the President of India on 16th June to bring the matter to his notice. The following day they would stage the dharna at Jantar Mantar which would be joined by Delhi's Congress leaders as well. Finally, they would return to Tripura on 18th June.
This has been informed by PCC President Birajit Sinha and Working President Asish Saha. Mr. Sinha said, "The clean image of Manik Sarkar's administration has now been maligned and dissipated in the wake of multi-crore chit fund scams across the state and this would be highlighted across national circles in Delhi."
Mr. Saha said, "The 200-member delegation would constitute all the Congress MLAs, senior leaders, PCC members, organisational leaders and workers. However, those entrusted with the responsibility of looking after the Surma and Pratapgarh bypolls would not accompany us."
He further added, "142 chit-fund companies across the state has fled away with 1172 crore rupees due to which 14 lakh people have incurred heavy losses. Nevertheless, the State Government refuses to stand by their side."
