AGARTALA: Seeking an unbiased investigation on the violence that shocked the capital city on August 23, the Bharatiya Janata Party, Tripura unit sought Union Minister Rajnath Singh to intervene.
The BJP demanded the Union Minister to send a central team to Tripura to study the actual situation and suggest remedial measures to safeguard the Constitutional Rights of the people belonging to different sections of the state.
"The entire incident occurred due to the failure of the administration. Though the state administration had permitted them to hold the mass convention and rally, there was lack of adequate security measures. We believe that the clash occurred following a provocation by the divisive elements and demand the central team to conduct investigation here," Biplab Deb said.
The party also slammed the Left government for conducting the by-election at Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council's Simna-Tamakari constituency on the similar date when the IPFT was about to organize a rally. They said that the state administration could have avoided problem to much extent if they deferred the schedule of the by-poll.
"The Left Front, despite knowing that the IPFT would observe the Statehood Demand Day on August 23, they had fixed the by-poll schedule intentionally," he said.
