The councilors of Agartala Municipal Corporation on Saturday organised a rally at Paradise Chowmuhani in Agartala to protest against the alleged attacks on them on several occasions, thereby affecting the work culture in the offices.
Addressing the media, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Prafullajit Sinha alleged that the councilors' are being attacked, forced to resign from their chair and harassed on several occasions. "This hampers the work culture," he said.
Echoing similar views, one of the members of Agartala Municipal Corporation stated that the demonstration is staged to protest against the attacks and to regain a healthy working environment so that the pending works can be completed.
"Over past few days, many councilors were subjected to many attacks in different parts of the city; we are raising our voice today demanding the government to look into the issue," said the member of AMC.
It was alleged that the Councilors were forced to work according to the whims and fancies of the BJP and when they refused, they are subjected to attacks from BJP goons.
