Tete-a-tete with Nagaland’s NK NAGA

In India, if any Northeasterner is bound to travel to the Aryan dominated states, be prepared for a setback; be ready to answer all sorts of queries, like which country you come from? Are you from China? the list goes endless. Surprisingly the Northeast Indians are looked at as an outsider, and one apparent reason is because of their physical appearance, colour, and difference in culture.

To break all barriers that divide, here is another very talented singer who has dedicated his musical journey, to singing songs in the "Rashtriya Bhasha"(Hindi).

Coming from the "Falcon capital of the world", mesmerizing landscapes, a very talented singer and performer, Mr. Ngukavi Zhimo aka NK Naga, from Dimapur, Nagaland.

When it comes to the musical taste of the Northeasterners, people generally tune into their regional numbers that have a lot of narrative content, tailored to their culture and tradition. Nevertheless, with the universal rock music and its heavy wired distortion sound, people have been intoxicated by bands like "Guns n Roses", "Scorpions", "Mr.Big" and other numbers played in every festival. Although people enjoy the Bollywood numbers, it's a rare sight to see people pursue Indian classical.

However, the country's mega-events have witnessed many talented artists like Amit Paul, Sourabhi Debbarma, Debojit Saha, Zubeen Garg, Papon Mahanta, and "Shillong Chamber Choir" among others.

PROFILE

Hailing from Dimapur Nagaland, and coming from a family of musicians, NK Naga has been singing since the age of 9. His passion and talent for music and unfailing committed has helped him achieve new heights as a musician. His real strong commitment to reach Bollywood and to pursue his dream career was so dominant that he also left a government job in the year 2019.

With this ambition to find a place as one of the prominent Bollywood singers, one can only say that with sheer hard work and determination, dreams do come true.

NK is one of those who believe in oneself and is a self-taught artist, with motivational support from his parents.

WORKS

NK has recently produced two numbers called ">Tum ho Mera Pyar, a romantic song, and the story behind the song is love at first sight by a lover and songs express true love from a lover. Later, he also did a tribute number for Late Bollywood actor, Sushant Singh Rajput.

NK's songs include ">Humsafar, ">Bapu (Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi), ">Fauji hai (How's the Josh), ">Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage (Reprise version),"> Tum ho Mera Pyar, Jaan Nisaar (Unplugged) tribute to Late Sushant Singh Rajput.

TRIBUTE NUMBER

To show his solidarity with the rest of the nation, NK also produced a tribute number ">"Jaan Nisaar" (Unplugged) A tribute to Late Sushant Singh Rajput.

Here is what NK shares about the late actor Sushant.

"A month ago, we lost a beautiful and talented soul. His passion and hard work was an inspiration to many of us.

To honour and pay my respect, I sang this cover song in tribute to Late Sushant Singh Rajput is etched in our hearts and will always be," NK Naga.

Late Sushant Singh Rajput, despite his busy shooting schedule, came from Delhi to Nagaland and donated a sum of 1.25 Cr to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund during the flood crisis. A very talented actor whose hardworking efforts touched me since I aspire to be somebody, someday sooner or later," NK Naga.

 

FEATS

To his credit, NK has bagged national awards for the song Bapu (Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi).

The song Fauji hai ( How's the Josh) for the Indian army is selected to play as background music in the upcoming series of Retd Major. K Kuotsu the first Naga lady army officer in the production house film & shots collaboration with Doordarshan.

INSPIRATIONS

"My dad and mom are my inspiration since both are music lovers and well composers and musicians as well…," NK Naga.

PLANS

"From now on every month I am uploading new videos on my YouTube channel," NK Naga.
